a new slipcover
They began like this, peeling vinyl and all...
When I recovered them my first thought was to make a slipcover for them but I was too impatient and didn't want to take all the time it would take to slipcover them so instead I stapled some fabric on them and called it a day... well I finally got in the mood to make slipcovers...
With a box pleat to finish off the skirt portion...
I love how they turned out... and the best part is if/when they get dirty I can take them off and throw them into the wash. (Do you like the black chairs mixed in there? Or should I bring back 2 more of the white x-backs?). Eventually I have plans for hubby and me to make a farmhouse table together, but that has to wait until we are in a permanent home so we know the right measurements to make it...
The slipcovers were really cheap as well, they're made from dropcloths! I took pictures all along the way so I'll write up a tutorial for next week, or at least try, it was a little complicated but I'll give it my best shot!
Speaking of slipcovers, did you see Laurel's? Yeah mine aren't as detialed as hers is... there's piping and even zippers! I'm obviously not as patient as she is... maybe one day I will give something like hers a go, for now I'm happy with my somewhat simple slipcovers!

Oh and I like the black chairs mixed in. Keeps it from look cutsy.
You have similar chairs to mine and I love the style slipcover. How smart to use drop cloths.
